We recently finished up construction on an arbour in our yard. It’s just off our driveway, and while it isn’t the main entrance to the house- it’s the entrance we use every single day! Its the start of a project that we will hopefully get wrapped up sooner than later- which is to build a picket style fence to offer some privacy in our yard, and keep little ones away from the driveway and road.
I am also planning on adding a gate, some vines to grow up the trellis, and plantings around the sides of the arbour and along the (eventual) fence line. When that part of the project will happen will just depend on time and budget. Something I am toying with (ok I am pretty sure I will do it) is to do the arbour and fence in white!
I have an entire pinterest board devoted to fences (follow it here) and I just can’t get over the charm of the white! While the wood does compliment our cedar shakes, a big wood fence would be a lot of wood. I think the white would be a nice contrast!
