The First Flowers of the Season | Flower Arrangement Week 1

Spring Flower Arrangement | This Mamas Dance

Slowly but surely the garden is beginning to wake up, and the plants are making an appearance. I could not be happier. What better way to celebrate than with a flower arrangement. Last fall I planted about 50 daffodil bulbs… they are ruffly, and buttery and wonderful. They are a bit of a blend, and not your typical daffodil. There is a peachy variety in there too, and I can’t wait for them to bloom. These are all “double narcissus” which accounts for the full ruffled centres.

A flower farmer, who I am sure you have heard of, name Erin from Floret has started a hashtag on instagram called #ayearinflowers So I decided to participate, and will try to continue to do so for as long as I have blooms. Each week, we are challenged to show what is blooming in the garden around us. Whether it be in a bunch, or as an arrangement.

I determined to pair these beauties with some greenery from some shrubs that are just beginning to leaf out… literally it happened today! And put them in this sweet little crock. I love the wild and natural curves of the branches.

It’s been an unbelievably busy few months. I can’t tell you how good it felt to take a few minutes to put together this flower arrangement and then to snap a few photos with the good camera. How I love stepping behind the camera. You can also see that I hung a second shelf in the kitchen last month. It’s always so much fun to have a new spot to syle.
