Unexpected Beauty

To all of the tired mamas: you are not alone in the challenges of being a mother. Little or Big. In carrying an endless supply of apples and baby crackers, or knowing the location of all the best bathrooms in any given neighbourhood. In guiding little minds to be a part of something great, both now and in the future. You and only you can find what it means to be a mother to your child, and while that can sometimes feel like navigating the world without a map, it is also a beautiful thing.

Unexpected Beauty, bananas for supper

This last month of flying solo with my babes has been such a new experience for me as a mama. I have felt God’s grace and stillness. While there have been times when I wanted to lock myself in a soundproof room for 4 days, and nights where I fed them granola bars and bananas, there have also been some of the sweetest reminders of what it means for me to be the mother to these 3 exuberant, intelligent and growing souls. For this I am thankful. I am learning to find what it means for me to be a mother amidst the rhythm of our days. Not to try and mould myself into the definition others have created, but to find God’s purpose in this life of littles, who will become big. So often I catch myself making decisions out of expectation or even fear, but little by little I am learning not to rush, to let us all make mistakes and to find the beauty in that too.
