The Blogosphere

So, you may or may not have noticed a bit of absence on my part from ze blog this week. I’ll be honest, sometimes I am crazy. Amidst dance starting this week, and doing things around our house, and nature bums biz, and momma hood- we decided to gut our kitchen on Monday. Yes. I said gut.

Tuesday included a 7 hour trip to IKEA. I will note that it takes about an hour and a half to get there … so it’s not quite as bad as it sounds? We did leave with our cabinets in hand, which fit like a glove into the truck- but, unfortunately the counter top we wanted (wood block anyone?) was out of stock in the length we needed. noooo. That was my first instinct, but, then I thought, perhaps God had a plan, and the counter top would not have fit in our truck… or maybe would have fallen off on the highway. Yes. I comfort myself with potential disaster avoidance. So, I am not sure what we will do, because I don’t want to pay double, or have a trillion seams… so here is to hoping YYC will get them in stock. !!

One thing I will say. (We are in the demo stage, and built the wall cabinets last night.) Why did we not do this sooner? Well, I know why. Because the old cabinets, despite being 30 years old (almost) and a horrible use of space, still functioned- albeit poorly. And, we just live with things some times, like my hideous lino stairs that always made me feel dirty. And also because, I don’t think everything needs to be new. Don’t get me wrong, new is nice. But, it’s like… oh, my ipod is 3 years old, and now it’s obsolete. Here comes the Iphone 5.6.7… wait you wore that shirt last season? Yuck. You mean your son is wearing hand me downs… woah. I mean, it is not until the term Β “vintage chic” came into play, that anything second hand or thrifted was actually cool and not a bit necessary or dare I say, pathetic? Isn’t it kind of true? Do not even get me started on the scam of Value Village these days. Key word, VALUE. All of your product is donated for FREE (aside from your halloween costume madness) and you proceed to mark it up HIGHER than things that are NEW. YES. I might be yelling a bit. Have I mentioned my Value Village Boycott? (note to self:mentioned)

There are 3 places I shop that are brick and mortar for used things: Habitat For Humanity Restore. Salvation Army (sometimes too steep) and my favorite, Bible’s For Missions. Its all in the title. I feel relatively comfortable with spending my dollars here.

Exit Tangent. So, back to life! I have so many ideas that I would love to do with my blog!!! But, I need time, and the ability to commit. I need a better organizational system, and format. I need to move to a dot com, but am tossing up changing my name, because I am also refinishing more and more furniture for friends and family, and this is really where my passion lies- and I want to incorporate that more into my blog. Will a name change be totally confusing?

Here are a few things I am thinking for format:

Monday: Free to be!! (my thoughts, tangents and societal rants and lets not forget, Motherhood JOYS!)

Tuesday: DIY

Wednesday:Wordless Wednesday

Thursday: Thursday Thrifts

Friday: Features (could be featured blog/diy/how to posts. Or guest posts)

At this point the weekends are kind of up in the air… I don’t usually post on weekends. I don’t know why. Sometimes Saturday nights, but thats about it. So, I’d like to hear from you: what do you think about such a format. To predictable? Good… ugly? Suggestions. These are topics I currently write about on a relatively regular basis, and the mini-schedule would be my attempt to keep up my regular posts as well as not become to over run with the same things… ie. Things painted in Maria paint πŸ˜‰

Ready set, go! do you read my blog? suggestions… ? or just say hi, and let me know who you people are! (hi Mo, Chelsea and Christy. And Nicole πŸ˜‰ And if you BLOG- post your link in the comments. Unless your content is totally un-related. Share the blogosphere love people.

Also? Who could resist this face?

Or how about this?

The faces my kids pull when you utter the word cheese… I now go with “Say Hee Hee Hee” πŸ˜‰ E once asked me: “Mamma why am I crying in this picture?” lol.
