Ever wonder what the most popular posts are on my blog? Sometimes these stats interest me… and maybe you are a dork like I am, and find it interesting what people like to read about. Some of them transfer over from my original blog domain… mamasdance.wordpress.com. Which I have yet to delete… So, it still get’s traffic even though I transferred to a dot.com… And I don’t really know how to figure out all of this stuff, but wish I could just forward those links to this blog. At some point this was pinned on pinterest, and must be a popular google result… To date it’s had over 15,000 views and doesn’t seem to show signs of slowing down…
I kind of feel bad about this one… because it wasn’t a 100% completed tutorial… oops. Plus the photographs are pretty bad…you live and you learn! So I am using a photo from our kitchen reveal in the first house…
People must really be looking for ways to update ugly staircases…
So apparently we love DIY projects. I know I do. I mean… I DIY almost everything I can. Let’s face it, it’s fun! The majority of the blogs I personally follow on a regular basis are related to homes/DIY/Paint/Tada! So maybe I should try to be better at sharing our DIY projects. Because trust me… there are a lot! To be honest, when you are busy with projects and you only have so much time… sometimes you just have to choose getting them done… and not stopping to photograph. I guess that is what differentiates hobby-ist bloggers… and the other kind. My blog is a hobby. Some people have asked if I have “monetized” my blog, and the answer is no. You may ask why… it’s not that I haven’t thought about it- I have signed up for doing affiliate posts etc… there just doesn’t seem to be many offers I feel are a good fit for my blog. Secondly, to be fair to advertisers/partners, I feel that it is really important to be “dedicated” to your blog so to speak. Since moving out to the boon dogs, my blog really took a hit in the last year because of our internet issues… which at first was disappointing because my blog was finally gaining momentum and I was pretty steady with posts. But you know what, it’s all ok. There are seasons for things, I still really enjoy blogging, and mostly, keeping in touch with friends… I am one of those people who have friends all over the place- perhaps because I was a bit of a gypsy until my 20’s… and gypsy’s just may attract more travelling gypsy’s!
When I combine my blog stats since 2010- Americans are the overwhelming majority of visitors to my blog, with Canada in second and the UK in third. My blog has been visited by over 104 Countries! 104!! That is bizarre.
Well… I think I will leave my random stat sharing there for now! I am hoping to post more often, but who knows… Matt wants to start doing more video blogging. To which I say… when. lol. Maybe we will schedule ourselves a bit more efficiently… plus, we will be bringing in trades to work on the addition pretty soon, so hopefully that means a little more time for “hobbies”
How about you… what type of posts/blogs do you gravitate towards most? What would you like to see more of around here? I think the snowy weather that just hit here has me looking to more indoor activities… 🙂
