There are varying scales of DIY. Some people build all their furniture from logs while other’s might customize a tea towel or some curtains with pom pom trim. Both are great places to be! No matter the project, I love it when I come across really awesome sauce tutorials that empower us all to be able to create, make or build something we otherwise thought we couldn’t. 10 years ago I hadn’t even painted a bedroom wall {true storty!} so if you don’t think that you are overly handy, crafty or creative- you could be missing out.
The following tutorials from around the web had me feeling ready to get creative so I thought I would pass them along to you!

Each of these lovely ladies have shared simple and straight forward instructions for each of these projects. I can’t believe how amazingly Ursula’s DIY Tufted Headboard turned out. It definitely has me itching to create my own version for our Master Bedroom. While I may not be a knitter, I could totally see myself whipping up a cozy arm knit throw for the foot of our bed- no needles required!
I was completely inspired to take the plunge and test out painting our window black after seeing an old post of the Nester’s on painting her living room windows. Her tutorial might just give you the push you need if you are toying with the same idea. I love how the black transcends so many different decor styles.
Earlier this week I had a few questions directed my way regarding the DIY White Wash I did in our bedroom, and thought that Lauren’s simple “stain” would also look amazing on pine- ceiling or walls! Speaking of walls- Ana’s plate rack (and entire cabin build in general!) is such a great use of space. I don’t really have anywhere to put one, but I want one. What is it about plate racks that are so charming?

Last week we were back to school 5 days a week, which went relatively well- I also went back to teaching Ballet (holy sore calves batman!) and my hubby was back in the studio full time. Holidays are over, and it felt good to get back to a routine. Miracle of miracles, my baby has slept through the night 2 nights in a row! If only I could really capitalize on that and get to bed earlier.
This week I am planning to continue work on the Mud room- Saturday we were able to pick up trim for the built ins, as well as supplies for building some pretty good sized doors. We haven’t built cabinet doors before, so wish us luck! I can’t wait to share the progress with ya’ll soon. We have quite a few home school related extra curriculars this month, but I am hoping to still keep on track with my project list. With the new year comes a burst of energy to finish off some projects that have been in the works for a long time… feels good!
Hope you had a restful weekend. Here’s to a week filled with potential, hope its a great one for you!
