I think when you love something, it’s hard to pick just one picture of it! That may be the case with our siding… I say love, as in giddy like a school girl, planked walls, cedar shingles, lake house kind of love! I am back today sharing the rest of our siding, as well as how it all ties in to the original part of the house.
If you missed Part 1 you can find it here. I left off with a shot of our bay window.
This is one of my favorite spots- I especially love how our windows turned out… those 4 windows are stock windows from Home Depot- we customized them with wood trim to mimic our original windows. We are so pleased with the results!
I’d like to add a little window box in front of that second story window with bright red geraniums. #heartface
If you follow the side around you come the intersection of the old and new. We still have a covered deck to build there, some siding to finish {Matt extended the entry from what used to be a deck to create a mud room for us} and of course painting all of the teal windows white, and the siding blue! Matt is toying with the idea of putting shakes on the original house as well- but we are going to see what the condition of the cedar is underneath first. {right hunny?} {like a bunny} {I don’t call him hunny} #budget
To be honest, we are at an ugly time of year around here. The snow is gone, and we are surrounded by a sea of brown! But you can see little bits of spring popping up. I love to take a morning walk to see what new gift is waiting in the garden. I heart spring. We are hoping to get the front porch and stone path done this summer. We have a stack of lumber and a pile of stones waiting for their home…We have fill to add, and lots of clean up and organizing to do! I look forward to the day when we are fully landscaped, or at least free of all of our construction messes! But little by little is the nature of things around here as we try to pay for all of our renos with cash. Baby Steps! I feel bad for our neighbours and all of the curious summer folks who wander by… I need to get over it though. One day it will be beautiful and all make sense! This house is constantly teaching me about the process of things… we are all in an unfinished state, and it is often our own eye that focuses on all that needs to be “finished.” Not others. I am trying to savour the journey.
I have the triangles cut out for my bunting… I just love fabric scraps. Yay textiles!
Flowers and hot coffee,
