You may have noticed this sweet little gingham stool cover from my kitchen post the other day. I was inspired by Miss Mustard Seed’s Ticking Stool Covers, so I used her tutorial to whip up a cover of my own. It’s been a while since I have sat down at a sewing machine, and I am inspired. So inspired I even made a red and white one in honor of Canada Day!
I had never sewed ruffles before, and I am not quite sure if I just over did it, but I had to extend my ruffle piece twice! I originally doubled the circumference of the stool. In the end I just about tripled the circumference of the seat, after my extensions. The instructions are really easy to follow though…
I bought 2 of these stools at a garage sale recently. The gingham is left over from our Christmas stockings and I knew it would make the most perfect stool cover. I just love this fabric. I pretty much followed Miss Mustard Seed’s instructions to a T, but for pinning my pleats/ruffles before sewing them. I wasn’t quite comfortable with just winging it. Even so, they are still a bit wonky, which I am just fine with.
I need more ruffles in my life! This is just too sweet… the gingham paired with the pink roses and lilacs from our garden- my little heart is going pitter pat.
