With the new year off to a great start, I am looking at the house with fresh eyes. It is my mission to finish off all of our little open ended projects, and start bringing rooms to the finish line. I am constantly exploring with the style of our house- because there are so many different design elements that I love. Thankfully they all work together most of the time, and I am becoming more content with “A la’ Miss Ash”
I want to be intentional about how I set up rooms in our home, and while I know that I will always be switching things out here and there, or making do with what I have or can afford right now, it would be really nice to settle on the function of each space- instead of playing musical rooms. When Wayfair asked me to partner with them in creating an idea board for any room in my house, I knew immediately which room it would be. The room that once belonged to our boys prior to the reno is an uninspiring little space at the moment, and is currently considered an “office” for lack of a better word.
The good news is that I decluttered the room before Christmas- it had become a drop zone for a few months and was really scary! I would really like this room to not only function as an office, but it also as my creative space. Let’s face it, I pretty much have a drop cloth on the floor 5 days a week.
I love the “My Boards” feature on Wayfair. It is very similar to a Pinterest Board, you can save your favorite products as you browse, and come back to them later. It is especially useful when choosing products for a room because you can see everything looks together side by side. YES!
As a homeschooling mama, I want this space to be beautiful and practical {isn’t that always the goal?} I need somewhere that allows me to recharge and be creative, as well as write lesson plans and organize our lives! I also need a place to store stuff. I love the idea of using unconventional storage. A tall armour for storing extra school supplies, fabric, my sewing machine, and paint would fit that description perfectly. I would use a mixture of baskets, crates and wire baskets inside to hold all the little randoms.
We currently have board and batten in that room, and I have been dreaming of adding wall paper on the top portion. I didn’t think Wayfair sold wallpaper, but boy was I mistaken! I typed it into the search on a whim, and found this beautiful little vintage feel pattern. It’s cheery and playful- and get this: it is completely REMOVABLE! It has a self adhesive backing and can easily be taken down or repositioned, so it’s great for renters or dorm dwellers too.
It’s not a huge room so I want things to be relatively neutral when it comes to furnishings- especially because the wall paper is a bit busy. I chose an open desk and some gold and brass accents… I love the idea of adding a little glam with a vintage style mini chandelier. I also love the muted round sisal rug… and that chair is amazing!! #muststartofficefund #lovemeansreallyreallylike

I hope this inspires you to think differently about some of the spaces in your home. It sure is fun to dream with the click of a button isn’t it? I feel inspired to buy some things new and some used to create a beautiful space! What room would you refresh if given the chance?
