I thought it was time for an update on the nursery makeover for baby T’s room. It is feeling so close to finished! Just a few more things before I call it a wrap! You can see part one of this series here.
I last showed you a quick look at the vintage style crib. I found it on facebook buy and sell for $50. It was already painted, and it’s just the sweetest, soft shade of green. I’m really gravitating towards greens around our home. Blues and greens remind me of nature, so I tend to use them most throughout our decor.
I gave all of the board and batten a fresh coat of Benjamin Moore Simply White. I had some paint left over from painting our upper cabinets in the living room. It’s an Alkyd paint so it has a bit of gloss to it, and is great for trim and doors. It also went on all of the door frames and windows.
Painting out the windows has to be one of my favorite transformations. They look so clean and bright now. I just love them.
I rehung the shutter style shades on the windows, but will need to add drapery panels of some sort to really block out the light as this room gets plenty of afternoon and evening sun. I picked up these curtain rods for just under $10 each at Home Depot. They’re up and ready for curtain panels. Would you add color here? Or keep them neutral? I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments.
A quick and rewarding project was restoring the antique vent. I love these vents throughout the original side of our home, but this one had many old paint splatters. I gave it a clean and 2 quick coats of matte black spray paint.
I also spray painted this thrifted light fixture from many years ago. I had originally bought it for our little bathroom, but it hung too low to clear the shower door. I am happy it found a home here, and I must say it is much better than the lone light bulb that it replaced!
Still a few little things to do in here… Let’s revisit my original list:
paint the walls BM Grey Owl lightened by 50%paint the board and batten, baseboards and trim in a fresh coat of whiterestore vintage air ventsnew light fixtureart- door for the closet
- storage
- organize small closet
- chair/rocker/glider of some sort (I may try to tighten up the bolts and give our old one a facelift… tbd)
curtain rods& drapery for blocking out lightrug
I did find a rug that I love, however I think I’d like something a bit bigger. I’m still on the fence… As my search has not turned up many better alternative options!
I did buy this sweet rope basket from Home Sense for storing T’s toys, as well as the darling little house shelf, and whale print with a driftwood style frame that I have still yet to hang.
All of which are items that can grow with him. I’m getting to the fun stage of bringing in a few textures and colors with fabric and decor… yay!
Most of all, I am happy to report that we love hanging out in here! I have so enjoyed this nursery makeover so far. And sweet boy has had a few great naps, and a few pretty decent nights in his new crib too. Though I must be honest that it has been hard on my mama heart to not have him in the same room as me. I have fought the urge to curl up on the floor beside him the last 2 nights. He is now 8 months old and his first year is going by a little faster than I’d like.

Hi did you use a pillow case on the change pad as a cover in your baby boy nursery?
I did!
