You guys, I am so excited to share this project with you all!!! It feels like it’s been a while since we did a room makeover! I mentioned yesterday that we decided to tackle a small bathroom renovation, and I am so happy we did! There are still a few finishing touches I’d like to add, like a mirror and accessories, but I thought I would show you the progress we’ve made so far.
This bathroom makeover included adding a new vanity, hardware, lighting, tiling, flooring and lots of bright white paint! After some deliberation we decided to go with vinyl click plank flooring. It’s waterproof, floating, and was extremely quick to install. We lucked out as a friend of ours had some left over from a project, and since it’s a smaller area we didn’t need much! It made such a difference to get rid of the old lino.
8 years ago we switched up the floor plan and I added a pallet wall. This was the only original bathroom in the house, and worked hard until we added our addition. The pallet wall was a fun, inexpensive project at the time, but since then the bathroom felt too busy for me. Initially I was concerned I would have to take it out- but instead, I decided to paint it white. I love the texture, and it has a great vibe for our lake house.
I dug up this oldie from back when I put the pallet wall in!
The vanity was an in stock item from Lowes. It’s a really lovely soft grey shaker style cabinet with a white solid surface sink and counter top. It came with the nickel hardware pictured below, but I decided to switch it out for some black knobs from liberty hardware.
We reused the existing faucet and gave it a nice shine.
The swing of the door definitely makes this room a little tricky to photograph! So excuse the slightly distorted wide angle view. We gave the door and trim a fresh coat of simply white paint, as well as all of the walls.
We added a white subway tile backsplash with a warm white grout just to add a special element to the room. I’d love to find a round mirror for the room- and am toying with the idea of something brass. So time will tell what I find!
The bathroom has a stand alone shower that was added rather recently. It is so nice to have a shower in this area of the house to serve the bedrooms here.
The final element was a new light fixture! I wanted something low profile- so that it didn’t inhibit the swing of the shower door- and found this outdoor light fixture with a black finish, which had a great vibe for a house by the lake!
The bathroom renovation is very simple and calm and I’d love to dress it up a bit- but goodness is it ever a breath of fresh air! I love the clean texture of the white wall, and the tile adds a little bit of shine. But I think my favorite element is the new flooring. It’s such a blessing to have such a handy hubby!
