I am always on the look out for a lovely vintage kitchen scale. I don’t know what it is about them, but it is an item I have long wanted for our home. The trouble is, I have never found a kitchen scale under $70… and even then, I haven’t really loved the colors that I have found. It seems like a silly thing to spend so much money on. So, you can imagine my delight when I found a scale for $10. Sure, it’s not overly vintage, and was covered in grease… but it was darling, and in my price range!
The face and base were covered in a thick layer of grease…
I used a past of baking soda and water to scrub it clean…
You can see that it cleaned up really well… but it’s a little too shiny for my liking 😉
I decided it was time to experiment… I have no idea what milk paint will do on metal, but I guess I’ll find out!
I’ll let you know how it goes 😉 Time to add a little age to this treasure…

great find! can’t wait to see what the milk paint does. -maryjo
I’ll be sharing details soon Maryjo. The milk paint adhered to the scale, but not at all to the pan, so I need to get a little creative with how I finish things 😉
