I just baked a cake. A chocolate zucchini cake to be precise. It started raining, it was late in the afternoon, and we had a pile of zucchinis from the garden just begging to be put into cake. So of course my kitchen now looks like an explosion of cocoa, flour, spoons and grated zucchini. I think it will all be worth it in the end.
I am a lazy, impromptu baker. I feel like I have been baking long enough that I can eye ball things. I don’t know if that is actually true, but I do it. Sometimes that doesn’t work in baking, but sometimes it does! How about you? Are you a baker? You may or may not have noticed that I skipped the Thrifted Finds Link Party this month. It wasn’t intentional, it was just life! Never fear- it will be back in September! I have to say that all this “fall” speak is bothering me. It’s still summer. It’s only September 2. Besides, I am pretty sure that Alberta summers are short enough so we don’t need to be jumping the gun too quickly. So I’m still wearing shorts and weeding my garden.

Matt and I are in full on siding mode. Perhaps next year we won’t be in a frantic rush to finish projects before winter. At this point it’s just the way life is these days, and I don’t really mind. Here is to the end of summer- finishing projects and baking cakes.
