Here are a few options for vases that are free, or next to nothing. I love having fresh flowers from my garden arranged in different areas of my house! Sometimes I fill my “vase” with many colors, and other times I will just go with one flower for a bold and clean look.
#1. Tin Can– wash out and use an old soup can for holding your flowers. They come in different sizes, and just need the label removed and work well if you like the galvanized tin look. You could also embelish it with a little burlap, ribbon or fabric.
#2. Mason Jar– most of us have a pile of mason jars from spaghetti sauce. You might be repurposing them for food storage, buttons, string, you name it- but another great use is as a flower vase. It’s simple and funcitonal! Small Pesto size jars make great ones for short stemmed cut flowers as well.
#3. Canning Jar– I have a flat of canning jars and lids that were given to me when my in-laws were cleaning out their basement. I have yet to venture into canning, but would like to make some jams and pasta sauce. In the mean time I have found some different uses for them, one of which is as a small vase on my bedside table. Cutesy!
Remember to think outside the box when arranging your flowers- try different color combos or even flowers that you wouldn’t normally classify as cut flowers! Happy Clipping 🙂
Great post! I’ve also used goblets purchased from thrift stores – they are very close to free.
Thanks! Love finding thrift store treasures, good suggestion 🙂
