I am eagerly anticipating the arrival of our sweet babe. I can hardly believe we are so close. Over the last few weeks I have started making a space for this little peanut in our bedroom. I have a simple and shared neutral nursery area for the baby in our room.
All of our kids have slept in this antique cradle. I gave it a good tightening, and wiped it down. I also sewed some simple bumper pads.
I will be bringing a rocker into our room as well, but wanted to keep things pretty clear until babe’s arrival. I am craving cleaner, decluttered spaces. Our room is often the drop zone- and for the first time, oh just about ever, it is finally cleared out! I got our closet nice and tidy- which feels so nice.
As I folded the freshly washed baby clothes it seemed like yesterday that I washed those same clothes for our first born nearly 10 years ago. The expectation and hope that comes with welcoming new life is miraculous. Life will soon be so new, yet so familiar… this little one coming into our family and finding his or her place as though it’s always been.
I’ve filled the dresser with sleepers, onesies, blankets and the tiniest of diapers. I forget how tiny newborns are.
I slipped a pillow case over the change pad for a quick cover that suits my tastes. I have it on the list to sew up a few new covers, but we will see if I get to it. I also picked up the sweetest navy and white fabric to sew up a simple cotton quilt. And just because I feel like sewing (?? apparently) I am toying with the idea of making a baby nest. Have you seen one, or used one? It seems like a handy little thing to have to move around the house, and have a comfy spot for babe. I’d love to hear your feedback if you’ve used one!
It’s simple, but it’s done! And amidst all that has been going on in our lives the last while, that is a good feeling. Now I will try and soak up these last few days or weeks before we welcome a new little muffin! Prayers for sleep are much appreciated as it has been very illusive the last week.

What a sweet space. I love the simplicity and the neutral tones. Nothing overdone, just the basics of what a wee little needs when they are first born.
Thank you Cheryl. The more kids I have, the less they seem to “need.” I am so looking forward to cuddling this little babe.
everything looks so wonderful for the baby 👶🏻 💕✨
Wow, such a peaceful, gorgeous space for your baby and your home is just lovely! The timbers, that antique cradle under the window! I just love it all 🙂 Reminds me quite alot of my first home as a little girl. I’ve only come across your blog today (via The Painted Hive) and have immediately fallen in love with your style.
Wishing you many good nights sleep before your little one arrives xox
Thanks so much for taking the time to leave such a lovely note Lauren. It really brightened my day. xo
