Our full kitchen renovation has officially been completed, and today I am excited to share the kitchen reveal with you! I have been sitting on these photos for a bit- but haven’t had time to put together a post for you! If you have been stopping by my blog for a while, you might remember when we took on our kitchen renovation as part of the one room challenge. We teamed up with Kitch and Liberty Hardware. Kitch is a Canadian company that makes custom doors for Ikea Cabinets.
We completely gutted the kitchen, added a new window, and upgraded all of our appliances in the 6 week timeline of the ORC. But we didn’t quite get all of the little details completed in those crazy 6 weeks. So we picked away at finishing things here and there. We finished off all the painting of the tongue and groove ceiling, and Matt got all of the final finishing done- its amazing what a difference trim makes. Everything looked so beautifully built in once we completed the full kitchen renovation!
I especially love the trim work Matt added around the fridge cabinet. It’s a very simple flat crown profile, and he was able to achieve that with a mix of Kitch materials, and custom cut flat stock trim, which we painted with a color match to our cabinet doors.
While I didn’t get around to my complete hood fan over haul before the move- I did end up painting it white. I like how it blends- as all of the different wood tones weren’t quite working for me.
As a reminder, here is what our kitchen looked like when we moved into the house 8 years ago:
I can’t believe how different it is now! It feels so much bigger. It was a huge reno project but so worth it!!
I normally always have the lights off when I take photos of our kitchen… but I thought it would be fun to share with the lights on- as adding all of this lighting was one of the best upgrades of our kitchen! It’s probably hard to tell in the before photos but there was one wimpy light in each room prior to the reno- and it was always so dark! We put in low profile pot lights throughout the kitchen and dining area, and of course our 2 copper pendants over the island.
Here is a look at the kitchen view from the dining room (lights off!)
All things considered, we were able to pack a ton of function into this footprint. So many of you recommended adding seating into the kitchen- and we used it all. the time. We really enjoyed creating this space- and it added so much function to the home, not to mention enjoyment to our everyday life. I think that the gas range and dishwasher might be some of my favorite additions! As well as having all of the lower cabinets fitted with drawers. We kept everything from plates and bowls, to pots and pans in the lower drawers. You can take a look inside the drawers in this post.
I hope you enjoyed this follow up post! Now onto the next kitchen project here at our new farmhouse.

So well done and beautiful! We are beginning our renovation. I love cedar and currently live in a blue house. The siding will be replaced and probably not blue but I love how yours turned out! Could you tell me your paint color in kitchen? I want to paint my little kitchen all the same white (walls and cabs). Thank you!
Hi Lisa, the white we used is called Simply White. The soft grey throughout our house Grey Owl at 50%. Both are Benjamin Moore.
