Ever wondered how to grow a garden at home? I’m excited to be working on a new series of blog posts all about seed starting and growing plants. I recently polled some of my Instagram friends, and many had a keen interest in learning more about gardening, seed selection, and how to grow strong seedlings! I am certainly not an expert, but after 20 years of planting seeds and watching things grow, I would love to share what I have learned with you!
Some of the topics I have gotten questions about include:
- “how do I start seeds without a greenhouse?”
- “why do my seedlings get so tall and spindly?”
- “tips for growing in colder climates and shorter growing seasons”
- “how to layout my garden”
- “plants and flowers for hot sun”
- “creating new garden space!”
- “how to layout plants/maximize space”
- “what seeds should I start with”
- “what flowers/vegetables like to be planted together” (companion planting)
I can’t guarantee I will make it through ALL of these, but I am excited to take a crack at it! Especially working on getting these posts out before you need to be starting your seeds, so that you have time to get organized.
I am planning to include posts about which flowers and vegetables do best when sown directly into the soil, and which flowers and vegetables are worth starting earlier, as well as how I have success doing that!
I would love for you, my lovely blog readers to weigh in with any questions or additional topics you are interested in on the COMMENT SECTION of this post. Even if it has been mentioned here, just so I know where your interest levels lie. Some of the questions I asked on instagram include:
- What are you most interested in growing? Flowers or Veges
- What vegetables are you most interested in growing? Root Veges or Greens/Beans/Peas
- Do you have a garden space to grow in?
- Would you consider yourself: A Beginner Gardener OR 3+ Years Experience
Thanks so much for stopping by the blog today and for letting me know what would best serve you when it comes to this new Gardener’s Series!
-Miss Ash
My mother could grow anything . I wish I had paid more attention! I tried tomatoes and cucumbers and peppers last year and failed miserably. I live about 50 miles north of Houston TX. Garden pests destroyed y plants! I used recorded fertilizers and deterrents to o avail. Looking forward to learning fro you!
