Canadian Bloggers 2018 Fall Cottage Home Tour

Welcome to our Fall Cottage Home Tour! I am so happy to have you stopping by today to see our home cozied up for fall. I’m joining up with some fabulous Canadian Bloggers who have been sharing their homes all week, you can find links to all of their tours at the end of this post! Many thanks to Christina from the DIY Mommy and Shannon from Home Made Lovely for hosting!

I always enjoy transitioning our home for the changing season, and usually do so with fresh flowers, greens, and re-arranging a few things. In a perfect world, I would love to extend summer as loooooong as possible though… How about you?! Fall Cottage Home Tour | via Ashlea of This Mamas Dance

I am a mama to four kiddos- three boys and a girl. Ages 10,8,4 and 10 months! I am always especially grateful for our home this time of year, as I homeschool this kids and it’s such a blessing to have this space to hang out in. We are slowly easing into our fall routine and haven’t started school yet. I am wrapping up my first season running a flower farm, and it’s been pretty non stop! It’s just made finding my rhythm a little off in terms of wrapping up weddings and markets, and jumping into the fall routine! Can you relate at all? This just felt like the zippiest summer ever.

There are a few continual elements that speak to my heart this time of year: crisp juicy apples from our apple trees, the changing leaves, and the deep hues of the flowers as they put on their final show. The colors always seem especially rich and vibrant.

Our family room has to be my favorite in the house… It just has so many pretty features. I designed and built it with my husband Matt. We put in every stone, built the mantel, painted all of the planking… So much love went into this house, and I truly never thought I would own a home like this! My hubby really made it all happen.

I just adore this sweet family banner made with love by a local artist. Her name is Gian and she teaches the Brush Lettering Workshops at our studio. She does all types of prints and special pieces for weddings and events. You can find her here if you’re curious to see more of her work.

I really wasn’t sure what I wanted to do on this piano wall. I started by taking everything off the top of the piano and down from the wall. I usually have some sort of gallery wall here, but I just love where this vignette landed.

I put together a cheery arrangement filled with  sunnies, and it landed in our bathroom just through the door to the left.  I especially love the sweet pea vines. A clean bathroom is one of my favorite things…

Back to the living room though, because I got carried away and took 90 million pictures.

Thanks for stopping in today! Be sure to visit some of these other home tours  for inspiration, I know the work that goes into creating these pretty spaces- especially during a busy week for the many mamas who are getting their kids back to school! I’d love to hear from you in the comments- where in this world are you from? If you’re Canadian did you get snow this week like us in Alberta?!! It’s just far to early…. ugh!! But, no matter- I’ll take it as a cue to make some soup and drink extra coffee. I’m thankful that we are not on evacuation from the hurricane this weekend. My prayers are with all the families affected.

In case you are making your ways indoors, I’ll be sharing some yummy zuchinni recipes next week and I also need your help with a design dilemma…

    1. Thank you Courtenay! There’s so much beauty in their simplicity. The apple tree kept catching my eye through the window, so I just had to bring some of that beauty indoors.

  1. Love so many things about your fall tour …
leaves on the typewriter going up the wall was brilliant, the balance is spectacular 💫
The apples on the fireplace, such a wonderful fall feature, I love them on the living room shelves, the still life photo with the old tin jug and apples is amazing…
your floors r the perfect colour and I love the new Kooman flag going up the stairs, also the small apple crate on the coffee table looks irresistible, I just want to sit there take it all in.
the sweet peas in the bathroom are such a beautiful touch, so whimsical and soft against crisp white backdrop…
so creative and beautiful Mizzzz Ash, i really love how u have made ur house a home ✨✨✨💞🤗

    1. Thank you for your lovely comment! It’s fun when a room starts to come together. This room is definitely my favorite in that it is the most purposeful, and intentional of our house. A good reminder for me in making the rest of the rooms in our home places we want to spend time. xo

  2. Your home is so cozy, bright, and warm. I love all your fall leaves, apples, and flowers. So pretty! It’s hot again here in Toronto, I’m debating putting the air conditioning back on for the weekend, but we’ll enjoy this last bit of hot weather while it lasts. 😉

  3. Ashlea, you’re home has me swooning each and every time I see it! I adore that gorgeous stone fireplace and love how airy, yet cozy everything feels!

  4. Your home looks so lovely Ashlea! I love that you brought greenery from your garden into your fall home…personal touches like that are the best! And your white plank ceilings…oh my…so dreamy!

  5. Okay, what?!!!! What is this magic you practice? you have 4 smalls, all at home, because HOME SCHOOL and this this amazingly styled fall home tour is beyond amazing – do you sleep?! I mean it’s not just amazing it’s magazine amazing lady, well done!!!!! I LOVE the green leaves on the wall next to the banner, stunning. Hope your cool if I share this with our Creative Vintage Darlings FB page? Because WOW!

    1. Laurie!! You’re too kind, and your sweet comment definitely made my day! Thank you for taking the time to share the love and encouragement, and of course you are welcome to share. How cool. I might just be a bit of a doer… helps me feel fueled somehow! I don’t like to sit for long.

  6. I love the way you’ve got all that greenery in your home! Everyone goes for yellows, reds, and pinks (like myself) but I think your choice of green works perfectly in this setting. I love it !
