I am planning on trickling out a few more details for the little projects that were a part of the One Room Challenge, like these custom wall letters. If you are just catching up, I made over my boys’ room. It was a big push to get to the “finish” line- about 3 days prior to the deadline the room was a disaster and I hadn’t done much. Getting things done felt great, but I need to finish cleaning up the loft area- which is still housing everything I purged from their room! One step at a time.

I want to share the details for creating custom wall lettering with a twist. It was a little project for my boys that is really cute. I have done this in the past, but it has never been so easy! I was inspired by a recent workshop I attended for creating decor blocks- you just use mod podge or spray adhesive, then sand the edges.

Supplies:

  • MDF or Wood Letters
  • Wrapping Paper or Scrap book Paper
  • Spray Adhesive or Mod Podge
  • Sand Paper
  1. Be sure your letters are free from dust.Customized Wall Letters |This Mamas Dance-1
  2. Cut a suitable sized piece of paper. ( I used plaid wrapping paper I picked up on clearance for $0.50)Customized Wall Letters |This Mamas Dance-2
  3. Evenly coat letter with mod podge or spray adhesive. Line up and place on paper, pattern side facing out. Press firmly with fingers to smooth any air bubbles. Allow to dry.Customized Wall Letters |This Mamas Dance-4
  4. Lightly sand the edges in a single direction. Edges of paper will peel off easily.Customized Wall Letters |This Mamas Dance-5Customized Wall Letters |This Mamas Dance-7Customized Wall Letters |This Mamas Dance-6

As you can see this is a really quick and easy project! This method allows for a nearly perfect, crisp, edge. A floral paper would be adorable for a girls room or office- there are truly so many possibilities.

If you’ve been wondering where I’ve been the last week- the answer is recitals! As most of you know, I am a dance instructor, so May is a busy month- not to mention a bunch of birthdays for my family- actually all 3 of my kids and my husband have their birthdays within a month of each other. It get’s a little nuts 😉

I am looking forward to enjoying the summer months. I am nearly wrapped up with homeschooling for the kids, with plans to spend time in the garden and at the beach! I hope you have a lovely weekend- and if you are here in Canada, I hope May long isn’t too chilly for you!
