It may have been momentarily heart breaking to have Fin tell me she wanted to paint over her dresser, but I surrender because it turned out so very sweet. We mixed up a custom blend of blush- aka- I had a little “Ballet Slipper Pink” left, tossed in some simply white and ta da! A custom blend. First let me remind you of what it started as…
To be really fair, here is how it looked originally.
And now I can tell, it will just softly sing in her room…
I’ve ordered some wood knobs, which I plan to paint the same color as the dresser. I think I’ll keep the crystal knobs up top. The discerning eye may catch that I need to do one more coat between the drawers, but I’ll wait until the knobs come in. Then I’ll either wax the entire piece, or I may try out some hemp oil. I also couldn’t resist bringing in a few accessories just to see how it will look…
I am absolutely smitten with this hand made pottery planter. It’s the perfect shade of pink, and this mini palm is chasing away our winter blahs. (found the pot at Homesense and the plant at Home Depot!)
I also finished painting all of the trim. Was that ever a job and a half! It took 2 coats of primer and 2 coats of Benjamin Moore Simply White- but it was totally worth it!
I’ve been sharing some behind the scenes in my stories on instagram- and just might put together a video for youtube for anyone who is not on instagram. But if you are- you can find me here: @thismamasdance
Slow and steady- this room is getting done! While I am painting- I am trying to finish off the ceiling too! But let’s be honest- these short simple projects like painting a dresser are much more fun!
