I love decorating for Christmas, and today I thought it would be fun to share some Christmas Mantel Decorating Inspiration from Christmas past!
I love seeing all of the family photos that pop up around this time, and people expressing their gratitude. Life can be hard and messy, but it’s good to have a reset, and focus on the things that really matter.
I know for many, as December nears, it’s time to start thinking about Christmas Decor. Here are some of my favorite Christmas Mantels (our fireplace is my favorite thing to decorate!)
This fresh cedar garland was definitely the star of the show- it is so versatile for many style types! I added some silk flowers into the mix, an antique mirror frame- sans mirror- and a handmade wreath. This was such a fun look to play with!
I placed some fresh succulents within the garland, hung a neutral bow and some birch tree garland that I made, added the sweet stone bird and birdhouse in the wreath, then hung our home made stockings from the mantel- using thumbtacks! Cozy and neutral, and using my favorite blues while still feeling Christmasy. I love watching a flock of birds come through on a sunny, snowy day so this mantel was inspired by that.
These snow shoes are Matt’s mom’s- and I love the classic Canadiana feel of them. I brought in more reds into our Christmas decor last year, and it was just fun and cozy, with the magic of a new baby in the house. That was the best.
Simple Christmas Mantel
This was the very first year I ever made a wreath!! I remember I had no idea what I was doing, but it was a lot of fun. This is also the year I made our little Christmas stockings- which reminds me that I need to make one for baby T.
Looking back has me feeling excited for this year’s mantel. I picked up some fresh garland, and have soaked it in the tub to maintain some of the moisture- though with our wood burning fireplace it dries out pretty quickly. I’m really feeling the classic cues from nature that I see all around us this time of year. White, evergreens, coppers in the remaining leaves, browns and the blue sky. They speak “winter” to me, which in turn says Christmas.
I’ll be sharing our Christmas Home Tour this Thursday as part of the Canadian Bloggers Home Tour Series, which starts today! It is hosted by Christina from the DIY Mommy and Shannon from Home Made Lovely. I always enjoy checking out the beautiful homes styled for Christmas- and meeting new Canadian Bloggers who are on the tour!
Who knows, maybe I’ll even get some other parts of the house decorated 🙂
