I have been somewhat absent from my blog lately. Tisk Tisk. Alas, life has been busy with other things. Last weekend we were thrilled, and elated to finally meet the speakers, presenters and attendees of Raise Their Voice: The Trafficked+Exploited. We will be putting some content up on the web, so, be sure to check back frequently.
All in all that weekend really affirmed in me the necessity of individuals to follow their heart. For us, it was a hurdle and a step of faith to get the ball rolling for the event, and to carry out the vision in a way that seemed true to not only our inspiration, but to also conduct it in a way that would genuinely benefit those in attendance. I also learned that it takes heart to address the subject matter of slavery today, to keep in it when the practical work seems daunting, to remember the hearts that need to be heard, to be seen, to be lifted up. I am so thankful to those that committed to sharing, attending, hearing. To those that know, and will forever know.
As usual, life never stops rolling, and as the saying goes, we must “keep on, keeping on.” This weekend we celebrated the first year of our youngest, Baby G. What a whirlwind of a year it has been. I was a little bit in shock this week, partially because we were coming down from a crazy few weeks leading up to the event, and also because, WOW, g is a year old already?! Where does the time go. He is suddenly walking, signing, and sharing is little voice. He has such a tender heart, and loves cuddles from those dear to him. Part of me wants him to stay little forever, but I love each and every stage. Taking time to enjoy the moments of discovery helps me to remember the joy and wonder in the world around us. Where would we be without babies.
On this, Easter weekend, in light of all that is around me, and especially with the week we have had, I can not help but be amazed at the transforming love, holiness, and redemption of God. I can not fully comprehend it, but I stand in awe, and pray for a deeper revelation of his love.
Blessings. I hope this Easter carries special meaning for you, that you may find rest and wonder.
