We recently finished installing farmhouse trim around our new windows. They sat with yellow foam for a little longer than we would have liked, but now the florescent foam is finally gone on the inside and out! It feels much more finished even though I still need to fill holes, caulk seams, and paint everything white.
This really makes the original part and new part of the house begin to come together even more… We carried the same farmhouse style trim, with the chunky headers that we put in the addition, over into the dining room. It meant removing the sides and top pieces of trim, and leaving the original sill.
Matt used 4″ MDF trim, ripped a piece down for the bottom of the header, and used a ripped down 3/4″ thick piece of wood for the top- so that it’s just a slightly thicker profile.
The original trim was damaged when we removed the old windows, but we were able to keep the large wood window sills. There are two windows in the baby’s room and his trim looks great- so I am just going to leave it, as we also have board and batten in there, and removing the trim would add a lot of work. I can make peace with the fact that we have an old home with a new addition, and everything is not going to be the exact same!
Speaking of the baby, he’s just the sweetest little sneaky toddler ever… he’s a total mama’s boy, and his hair has exploded into blonde curls this summer. He’s such a sweetie… Brown eyes, blonde hair! I was surprised to see his hair get so light, because I was convinced he’d have brown hair.
We’ve been picking away at some trim projects, installing farmhouse trim was just one of a few- we’ve also been working on our living room built ins, and the cabinets where we have our coffee bar! They’re almost finished, and the progress we’ve made has made such a difference already.
Can’t wait to share some of the little things we’ve been working on. Thanks for visiting the blog. It means so much!
