A few weeks ago, my sweet friend Joc asked me to lend her a hand with creating a gorgeous and {colorful} office space. She had me at hello, and I could not be more excited to be a part of this! Joclyn lives in an amazing 100 year old house, that she and her hubby are lovingly restoring… the work they have done so far is amazing, and I feel so honored to be a part of transforming the space that will be Joclyn’s home office, as well as her craft and sewing room.
She is a talented mama when it comes to sewing, felting, and creativity. She tells me she is afraid of color- so we are staying away from beige, brown and muted tones… but, I didn’t want to do anything to scary. Okay, maybe just a little bit scary. I was scared when she said “I trust you! Just pick the paint!” For me, it would be very difficult to relinquish that kind of control, so, it meant a lot to me to hear her say that! And hey, at the end of the day, it is just paint… so, if it is totally awful, we can paint over it!
I have been a busy bee asking Joc what she wants from the space, and have found Pinterest to be an amazing help in the planning process. It also helped Joclyn to see, that although she doesn’t usually use a ton of color within her home, the colorful rooms and pieces were what she was most drawn to when busy pinning. I think that Pinterest has helped many people to define just what exactly it is they like… be it in the home, personal style, or design.
I thought I would share a few of our inspiration pictures, and hopefully we will be able to document the process as we go! The room was originally covered in floor to ceiling wall paper, complete with a stubborn ducky border. So this is my nudge to keep us accountable for this project, because my sweet friend deserves a beautiful space! Hopefully we will get going in the nearish future, because hey, we already have the paint! It is a beautiful color from the Martha Stewart Living Collection called Sea Glass. You can see a swatch in the photo below.
The plan thus far is to do a board and batten treatment in white, with the sea glass painted above… I think it will create a beautiful backdrop to incorporate some color through unique furniture pieces and decor. Here are a few inspiration pics from Pinterest… Joc said she wants the room to feel like a patchwork quilt… cozy!
I’m looking forward to sharing this room with you as it comes along! Hope to have Kitchen photos up next week… this has been a long time coming, not to mention the after shots of my sister-in-laws Fireplace! But, Matt will be away for some film work so… photos will have to wait. But, these projects really did happen!! 😉 Here is a sneak peak of my in-laws bedroom… almost to the finish line! They seem to be thrilled with the outcome so far… sorry for the dark grainy pic, but yahoo for instagram!
