-35 is a bit of an understatement. I was being generous… because it’s been more consistently somewhere around -40. The cat and the kids are getting a little stir crazy I think, as we come up on the second or third week of this cold snap!!
We have been productive with school, and I am hoping to wrap up some time around Mid-May. Fingers crossed!! The baby is finally starting to find a rhythm with consistent naps, and I have figured out a few little activity units to keep him occupied while we work on school.
He is finally getting to a stage where he actually “plays” or looks at books, and boy does it make life just a little bit easier!! He is super busy so I am constantly moving things out of his reach as he toddles around. I am relishing the fact that he still hasn’t learned how to climb up on furniture! He is absolutely a “play pen” baby. I keep one permanently up in the dining area in front of the window so that I always have a safe spot to contain him. He plays for a bit, and can watch the birds or snow. Plus he is close to us while we work on school, without interrupting the boys too much.
A few weeks ago I mentioned that I wanted to try sewing a slip cover for my piano bench, because who doesn’t need a few more ruffles in their life? I had a little window of time to work on it, and am very nearly finished. I just need to finish sewing on the ruffles…
I’m using the same method I used for the chairs in the loft, and am making the cover out of bleached drop cloth. There is no piping involved, so it’s been a pretty quick project, but I just ran out of time during naps! And then the week got busy. As it always seems to do!
I have to tell you that I am very much looking forward to the weather warming up again…. hopefully soon!!
