Good Morning dear friends! I wanted to pop in today with a super simple video tutorial for how to install a Barn Door and Track. I love me a pretty barn door… they make a design statement on their own! We hung this barn door in our new studio space- Maker House. The door is pine, and the stain color is “Provincial” one of my fave colors when it comes to getting a warm mid-tone brown.
It’s not too orange, and not to dark. I also love the way the black hardware stands out on the door.
I try to keep these videos short and simple, so feel free to let me know if you have any additional questions. We installed this door into cinderblock- which requires a special masonry bit for pre drilling, as well as specific anchors so that the track would hold into the wall. (if you are reading this in your email browser you may need to click through to the post to view the video)
I mentioned this in the video, but if you are installing into drywall- as most people are, I recommend mounting a piece of 1×4 (or thicker depending on the profile of your trim) to the wall on the studs. This way you have something secure to mount the track to, and don’t need to worry about drywall anchors, as the holes on the track are pre-determined. You can see how we did that on our closet barn door:
Notice the piece of trim that is the underneath the track? Installing something similar will make hanging your track much easier!
On the note of videos- if you enjoy it feel free to hit the thumbs up! You can also subscribe to my channel on youtube 🙂 I’d love to create more video tutorials for you guys- from crafts to home reno projects. So, if there is something you’d love to see- leave me a comment and I will try to put it together.
For anyone wondering- we shot this when I was just barely pregnant- so no I have not had the baby yet! But I am getting very close ( like less than a month close) I hope you are having a great week,
Miss Ash
P.S.- 10 points for anyone who can spot the crying toddler in the video! #momlife

Where did you purchase the hardware?
We purchased the hardware from a Canadian store called “Home Hardware” Hope that helps!
