Sometimes I get a little too talked out, touched out… needed out? Last night I just really needed some quiet; to experience having thoughts that weren’t interrupted, while I was still alert. {ps. please tell me baby to sleep!}
So I booked a mom getaway. Oh yeah. It was long overdue. Where to you may ask?
I went to the grocery store CHILDLESS after dinner.
It was still light out. I could hit up all the aisles, and grab everything on my list without having to abandon ship due to melt downs or 4 bathroom breaks. No one asked me for anything! It was just what I needed. I also bought chocolate. Peanut butter pretzel chocolate. Who thinks of these things, I do not know, but I thank them.
I saw a mom in the check out line… her 3 kids had made their way over to the display toy cars {the ones my kids always want, and always touch} Once she had paid she called her kids; they weren’t coming. So she counted “1,2,3,4…4…I said 4” 2 of them came… sort of, but they got distracted by the flowers. I have to be honest. I actually let out a laugh while I was putting my groceries up. Why? Well… there are some things about being a mom that are so universal. I have had that exact scenario play out… well, pretty much every time I go to the store. I wanted to give that mom a peanut butter pretzel chocolate chunk and a pat on the back. She survived the grocery trip in one piece. She deserved a medal! And probably a pot of flowers.
My post mom-cation plan was to eat chocolate and drink tea… and maybe watch an episode of Downton Abbey. My sisters made me do it. That’s all I will say about that…
I love being a mom. But somedays or some weeks call for tea, chocolate and british women dressed to the nines with men calling them m’lady. How on earth did they build those castles back in the day? It baffles and amazes me! And the furniture. WOW
On the note of wow, you can imagine my surprise when I received a notification that our desk was featured on Miss Mustard Seed’s Furniture Feature Friday. I was a little bit delighted! It was the perfect addition to chocolate, tea, and Downton.
It was reminiscent of the time we were extras in the movie “Cool Runnings” {yes, we saw John in the flesh!} While I wasn’t aloud to go see the movie, my dad took my sisters. Would you believe that they spotted her Sun Ice fluorescent COAT in the crowd. She was famous! A movie star. *clap*clap*clap*clap*applause!
Last night I spotted my coat 😉
I also have to add, in true sisterly fashion, mine told me…. “You’re Famous!”
