My boys have been long requesting a new seating arrangement at the piano. The chair I have had there for a long while is bothersome for them, because the arms get in the way. So, although it’s pretty- it isn’t the most practical. Enter, our new piano bench!
At leas it is new to us. Matt’s parents were getting rid of it so I tucked it away at Maker House ( I have a few project pieces there…) and we finally brought it home last week. It was originally wood, but needed an update for two reasons: one it got over spray primer on it, and two the finish was worn on the top. The wood tone also clashed with the tone of the piano so I decided to paint it…
I chose a color called “Raw Silk” (a Fusion Mineral Paint color) I may add in a little antiquing wax to bring out the details, but I’m not going to distress it. I do have thoughts for a little seat cover- but it just depends on whether or not I have time to sew- so stay tuned! 😉
Anyways it’s a simple change, but it just makes our home more functional. My boys are more comfortable while practicing, and mama is happy because all of their music books are neatly put away. Plus it can tuck nicely under the piano keys.
Our oldest is in his third year of piano, and Gabriel is in his first. I am so thankful we found a lovely teacher who lives just around the corner from us! Having the house filled with music is may favorite- and I hope my kids will always carry a strong love for music with them as Matt and I do.
We’ve got one more project in the works that I am so eager to complete…
Any fun little projects you’ve been working on lately that have just made you happy?
