Oh Christmas Tree!

This year we have been slow moving on getting the house decorated for Christmas, but it has been quite alright. We put up our Christmas tree a few weekends ago, then took a few days to get the ornaments up. My kids eagerly placed the ornaments, and I just let them enjoy the process.

He reminds me of the sweet baby Jesus that came into the world against all odds. I think of the miracle it is to give birth to a healthy baby- and all the things that could become complicated in what seems to be a natural part of life. Yet, there he was, born in a stable. What were Mary and Joseph thinking of that night? Becoming parents, with so little to offer their child, barely even a warm, dry place to welcome him. Yet God was with them as they faced the unknown- and entered into the partnership of protecting and raising that baby so that he could carry out the work God had planned for his life.Classic Cottage Christmas Tree | via Ashlea of This Mamas DanceClassic Cottage Christmas Tree | via Ashlea of This Mamas Dance

As I have grown up, I come to appreciate the Christmas Season from an ever transforming perspective, and this year is no different. I hope that my kids to will engage their hearts in the wonder of the gift of Christ to the world. There are so many wonderful things about Christmas, like family time, food and gifts… which makes this time even more special.Classic Cottage Christmas Tree | via Ashlea of This Mamas Dance

While I haven’t had a many posts here the last few weeks, I am forever grateful to each and every one of you for being a part of my world. For celebrating the birth of our newest boy just a few weeks ago- to inspiring and encouraging my creativity, and being a listening and engaging ear. I hope you find some rest amidst the hustle and bustle of the next few days. I hope you find contentment, even if everything isn’t as ready as you’d hoped, or as magical as you tried to make it. The humble beginnings of Jesus, and the simple offering of Mary and Joseph to trust God and follow his voice are an example to me that though we may not be able to give all that we want, showing up and saying yes are what God wants of us most.
