DIY Dip Dye Basket {Thrifted Treasures}

Baskets are funny. I mean, I have seen medium sized baskets for sale at Home Sense for $40… or more! Add a little chalkboard tab and you are asking for trouble. And honestly…. they are baskets. Some may go so far as to describe a basket as a glorified cardboard box. Don’t get me wrong, I love baskets- they add texture and charm and yesss…. but why are they so expensive? God bless the clever soul who was able to determine that the general population will pay an arm and a leg for baskets! #geniusbasket before

Anyhoo, I popped into one of my randomly visited thrift shops, which has plenty of granny/ugly/baskety things that I am rarely interested in… but,  you can imagine my surprise when I spotted this very sturdy rather large basket for $5.

“Hmmm. Wish it was $1” I thought.

It was pricey for my thrifting brain, but when I was able to transport myself to Homesense I realized this was a killer deal! $5? Yes please! I knew just what I wanted to do with it. I decided to to a little DIY dip effect… I actually just painted it with a brush and some leftover simply white from Fin’s room, so there was actually no dipping involved other then my brush into the paint can. I debated about whether to put the paint on top or bottom- so I did a quick survey with 2 of my girlfriends and determined top! {thanks Laila!}dip dye basket leather boots

I think it will be great for storing blankets, maybe kids toys, or dare I say? dirty laundry. It was a quick project and a happy find!
