Coastal Cottage Master Bedroom Style Board

After stripping the door and finding bedding I love, I am trying to be more intentional about the choices I make for our bedroom design. I am not by habit an intentional shopper. For example, I rarely make a shopping list for what I need {want} before walking into a store. I tend to be the type that sees something I like (or that is on sale and close to what I like) buys it, and then realize I might not have a place for it. I want to be more intentional about making design choices in our home that we will love, and that will work well for our family of 5.

Our bedroom has the makings of the room of my dreams. It has bay windows, patio doors that walk out into the back yard, a walk in closet and ensuite. Not to mention planked walls and ceiling, and partially finished crown moulding 😉 I am realizing that even a room with all the right bones can still feel like a mess when items aren’t intentionally placed in a space and clutter put away.

I decided to piece together a style board for the room of my dreams. If I could, what would I choose to finish it off. I asked the questions what do I like together, and what is the feel I want in our room. This is what I put together.

I am smitten with that bed. The rolled headboard, the tufting, and the blonde feet. I know that a new bed frame will be the largest investment in our room, and this particular frame is well outside the budget. We recently bought a new mattress, and it was worth every penny! Now it just needs a plush frame to match.

I love the idea of bringing in small hits of copper through the lighting, as well as a touch of bling. I think it is a nice contrast with the rustic yet refined wood tones. The combination of grain sack backs and ticking stripes on those chairs is perfection {I think I would do without the numbers}

I couldn’t find a perfect swatch of fabric for the drapery, but this color is very coastal to me. I actually have some panels that are similar to the color on this board- but they read more grey/blue, which is a nice neutral without going white or beige. You can see them in the photo below.

The wall and ceiling will be getting white washed, the rest of the walls are painted in simply white.antique barn door-1

I know it will take time to put this space together, but it is so fun to dream! If you’ve never made a style inspiration board, I highly recommend it!
