Chippy Barn Light for The Hallway

Years ago Matt spotted this chippy barn light at our local restore. It was $25, and while we didn’t have a spot for it at the time- we knew we would some day! Upon doing a little research we found that they are often used in animal barns, are explosion proof- and that vintage ones like this can be pretty pricy. There are all types of reproductions available these days, but I don’t think we could re-produce that perfect chippy paint finish.Chippy Barn Light for the Cottage | via Ashlea of This Mamas Dance

I just love it hanging proudly in the hallway. I’ve decided to go solid white with the ceiling, but I am going to start with my first coat and see how far along I get… 😉 #pregnant

We also added 2 dummy knobs to the doors. Matt grabbed 2 knobs from the local HD. They were $8 a piece for oil rubbed bronze- or $18 a piece for solid black. We had some leftover matte black spray paint, so I gave them a quick spray and they were perfect. Chippy Barn Light for the Cottage | via Ashlea of This Mamas DanceChippy Barn Light for the Cottage | via Ashlea of This Mamas Dance

I love how neutral and fresh this hallway is now. I can’t wait to get to the floors, and finish off the trim! I’ll be back tomorrow with our mantle spiffed up for fall, then a full fall room tour later this week, so stay tuned,
