Blue+White Check Stockings

Over Christmas holidays I decided it was time to update our stockings. Matt and I had dollar store stockings from our first year of marriage (they were actually cute little felt stockings) but the boys were both a bit of a hodge podge, and Finley needed a new stocking. When I went out to look I didn’t really find anything I really wanted to spend money on. So, I decided to sew some. I took a trip to the fabric store with the 3 littles, and an hour and a half later we had made out like bandits.

Let me clarify, my oldest is his mamas son… I had told the boys they could pick out fabric for some new pj pants, and he deliberated over 2 different patterns. For about an hour. It was cute. I eventually had to force his hand. šŸ˜‰ GabrielĀ chose the second car pattern he saw and proceeded to carry the bolt around the store. For about an hour.

Back to the stockings. I knew I wanted something with blue and white… maybe a stripe? This is what I came up with. Its a sweet check with a slight little quilted diamond patternĀ to it.

I have not used many patterns in the past, and usually make my own or just wing it, but this was great to have. All in all they were quite quick, and I am so pleased with how they turned out.

It was so fun to have a mantle this year! We finished it on Christmas eve, just in time to hang our stockings. It is made out of reclaimed wood from an out building on our friends property and I love it.

I’ll be back tomorrow with a reveal of our fireplace so far! We still have stone work to complete, but for now we are enjoying being in our new space, and taking a break from bigger projects… at least when it comes to the house. Matt is busy working on film stuff, and has a big upcoming film project consuming a lot of his time. Woo hoo!

I know we are post holidays, but I am still enjoying Christmasy coziness. It will soon be time to pack everything up, but truth be told we got our tree really late, and still have it up! I know… just shhh.
