5 Elements of a Farmhouse Table Setting

Happy Saturday friends! When I think of Saturday mornings, I always correlate them to “brunch.” Lazy mornings filled with good coffee, jam, fresh fruit and simple conversation… This morning I’m sharing an inexpensive “Farmhouse Spread.” I had a lot of fun creating this look- and to be honest I think its pretty simple, because almost anything goes when it comes to farmhouse style. My belief is if you love it, then go with it! No rules of thirds, fourths, fifths and no-no’s. Farmhouse table Setting-1

One afternoon while out at Home Sense I spotted some darling placemats… but I didn’t really need them. So I walked away. As it turned out, while I was visiting my mom a few weeks ago to help her pack, I came across these ticking stripe placemats in her stash. She said I could have them, and I couldn’t help but smile. They are so similar to the ones I had been eyeing a few weeks before, but even better. I love a good ticking stripe!

I think the key to “farmhouse” is all within the name itself. It isn’t too fussy or fancy. Clean and simple. With a bit of pretty rolled in! I enjoy creating layers, so I started with a washed drop cloth folded in half to use as a runner {wrinkles? yes please!}ticking place mats-1Then I plopped the place mats down and placed the breadboard I made out of reclaimed barn wood. Which brings me to the next element: warm wood tones.

I think this is a style that really lends itself to mix&match just about everything… including mix&match seating! Most of the dishes are from the thrift store or clearance aisle. I am slowly collecting more white dishes. And guess what? The bowls, lavender, topiaries and their vases are from the dollar store….don’t tell anyone…. 5 Elements of a Farmhouse Table|This Mamas Dance|table setting

Once I was finished snapping photos the boys asked if we could have a tea party! It was too fancy not to enjoy. So we enjoyed some tea and toast and good chats about always having our table set for a party 😉 What are some of your favorite Saturday morning past times?
